Education for Young Learners

Early Years at Bright

At Bright, our Early Years Pathway is a journey of discovery for children aged 3 to 5. Guided by the Cambridge Curriculum, we nurture curious minds, spark creativity, and empower children to explore and learn through play.

We foster strong relationships and communication skills, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

Why is it better?

The Cambridge Approach

The Cambridge Early Years Curriculum was developed by a diverse team of early years and subject-matter experts. This globally recognized framework reflects best practices from around the world, ensuring the highest quality early years education for your child.

“Children learn best through playful, joyful experiences in a colourful and well-organised environment that inspires them to grow and thrive.”

As an EYS Coordinator, I wholeheartedly believe that children thrive when learning is playful, joyful, and engaging. My work is deeply inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which emphasises hands-on activities and child-centred exploration. I see every child as naturally capable and curious, and I strive to nurture their unique potential by designing experiences that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and self-expression.

Beyond academic growth, I am deeply committed to fostering a warm and emotionally balanced environment. I believe that kindness, friendship, and helping others are fundamental values that shape not just the classroom but the foundation of a child’s life.

Education for everyone

The Early Years Curriculum

Our Early Years curriculum is structured around six key areas that guide and support children’s overall development into the Primary Pathway.

These areas are interconnected, ensuring that teaching and learning occur in a holistic way, as outlined in the Cambridge Holistic Learning Model. This approach takes into account all aspects of a child’s growth — cognitive, social, emotional, and physical — promoting a balanced and well-rounded educational experience.

Each of these six areas plays a vital role in shaping the child’s development, and together they offer a comprehensive foundation for learning. By addressing all areas simultaneously, we provide children with opportunities to build essential skills, grow in confidence, and prepare for the next stage of their education, whether in Cambridge Primary or another programme.

This interconnected approach fosters an engaging and meaningful learning environment for every child.

Language & Literacy

Speaking, listening, reading and writing are crucial to children’s early development.

Showing children the importance of language through fun activities and encouraging them to engage with a wide range of texts helps to ignite a lifelong curiosity for learning.

Creative Expression

Creative expression allows children to communicate their ideas and develop their imagination through art and design, music, dance and drama.

This important curriculum area brings together skills and cognitive processes from across the whole curriculum.

Mathematics

At an early age, it is important to help children recognise how mathematics impacts everyday life.

Through games and activities, we can introduce children to mathematical language, thinking and concepts that they will need when they start primary.

Physical Development

Our curriculum is designed to inspire children to develop essential movement skills through engaging activities.

By incorporating physical development into their daily routines, we help children build coordination, strength, and confidence while fostering a lifelong appreciation for exercise.

Emotional Development

This area is central to children’s lives. It underpins their wellbeing and attainment in all other areas of their learning.

This area helps them to develop social learning and friendships, regulate their emotional responses and respond to the needs of others, and develop self-esteem and confidence.

Understanding the World

Children’s natural curiosity must be encouraged, so that they are equipped to reflect, question, explore and interact in their understanding of the world.

This area of the curriculum lies foundations for a range of different subjects, including science, digital literacy, computing and humanities.
